Color chosen in the room
Hardwood floor staining and color selection
See how stain reacts with your actual wood and lighting before committing to the color across the room.
What to expect
A recommendation based on the floor in front of us.
A stain name on a chart is only a starting point. Wood species, grain, sanding, natural variation, room light, and the finish system all influence the final appearance.
Peter provides free estimates and completes the work with a focus on preparation, honest communication, and details that hold up after the room is put back together.

Common questions
Before you decide
Every floor is different. These answers are a useful starting point; an in-person look determines the final recommendation.
Will stain hide every old mark?
Not always. Stain changes color but does not erase every mineral streak, pet stain, patch, or natural grain difference. Peter will point out limitations before finishing.
Can I keep the wood natural?
Yes. Many floors look excellent with a clear finish that preserves their natural color and variation.
Why test stain on the floor?
Small samples show how the specific wood and room light affect color more accurately than a printed chart or another home’s photo.
